1.The RED CORNER(красный угол)

The Red Corner is a front part of peasant’s house. The main decoration of Red Corner is Bozhniza with icons and a lamp.

2. THE RUSSIAN OVEN (русская печь)

It’s a facility for house warming and cooking. The oven played a main part in the interior of Russian home. The fire is made within the oven.

3. A CAST IRON POT (чугунок)

Let`s have a look at this cast iron pot. Our grandmothers used it for cooking tasty meals from the Russian oven.

4. AN OVEN FORK (ухват)

Don`t forget about an oven fork! It helps to put the pot into the Russian oven and get it out.

5. A CARRYING POLE (коромысло)

A carrying pole, also called a shoulder pole or a milkmaid’s yoke, is a yoke of wood or bamboo, used by people to carry water.

6. A SAMOVAR(самовар)

A samovar was an important attribute in Russian household well-suited to tea-drinking.

I like to drink tea from a samovar. I have a samovar at home.

The Russian expression «to have a sit by the samovar» means to have a leisurely talk while drinking tea from a samovar.
