Тема урока: Traditional British cuisine
Тип урока: открытие новых знаний и систематизация изученного материала смежной темы
Цель урока: изучить и систематизировать знания, умения и навыки по теме и применить их на практике
Задачи урока:
Обучающие:
- Способствовать закреплению ранее изученной лексики по теме: Food.
- Изучение нового грамматического материала и последующая его систематизация в практической деятельности учащихся.
Развивающие:
- Способствовать развитию навыков устной речи.
- Способствовать развитию умения вести беседу, а также работать в группе.
- Способствовать развитию познавательной активности, воображения, навыков и умений.
Воспитательные:
- Способствовать воспитанию интереса к изучению иностранного языка.
- Способствовать воспитанию уважения к культурным традициям страны изучаемого языка.
- Способствовать воспитанию самодисциплины.
Методы и приемы: наглядный (демонстрация, наблюдения учащихся), словесный (объяснение, рассказ, беседа), работа с текстовой информацией (беседа по тексту, статье)
Средства обучения: классная доска, раздаточный материал (текст, статья), презентация, видео.
Ход урока
1.Организационный этап(3 мин):
Teacher: Good morning dear students! I am very glad to see you!
How are you? What date is it today?
-What day of the week is it today? -What is the weather like today? Let us begin our lesson. First of all, let`s prepare our tongues to the correct English pronunciation:you have sheets of paper with a rhyme,let`s read it all together!

Teacher: Okay,students! What are we going to discuss today? Yes, you are right, the theme of our lesson is British cuisine, so we are going to cover the main traditional dishes of Britain,moreover, to discover some grammatical material which will help us to go into details in this direction. This plan you can see on the blackboard.
Students, and what do you like to have, for example, for breakfast/lunch/dinner?Pay attention to the blackboard where you can see the list of words which can help you as well.
How do you think, what role food, in general, plays in our life?
Students: I like sandwich and a cup of tea or coffee.
— I stick to a diet, that is why, I have just an apple and a glass of juice.
-We can say food plays one of the most important roles in our life.
-Every person has his own taste.
-Every country has its own traditional dishes.

Teacher: You are right. Every nation, every country has its own particular features. And Britain has them as well. Now, students, let`s pay attention to the text which I`ll give you right now.First of all, we shall read it and then analyze its peculiar grammatical features.
Traditional british dishes (text)
Each of the four countries, England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales have many specific dishes . These dishes are so familiar, so they are eaten in many countries to some lesser or greater degree.
There is much dispute about which is truly the English national dish, because we can observe quite a lot of similar dishes. Number one on the list for many years has been roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, followed closely by fish and chips.
Irish Stew is a thick hearty dish of mutton, potatoes, and onions and undisputedly the national dish of Ireland. Within the dish there are many ingredients, which are synonymous with the island, potatoes being one of the most recognized.
Haggis is regarded as the Scottish national dish. It is a sheep’s stomach stuffed with offal, suet, onions, and oatmeal. The result is an exotic type of sausage.
Cawl is the national dish of Wales. It is also a stew and made from bacon, Welsh lamb or beef, cabbage, and leeks.
Despite the fact that there are different dishes in these four contries, the most famous tradition in the UK is the so-called “Fife O’clock” ,a tea break at 5:00 pm.As it is a break, little time is devoted to this case, but there are few people who will miss it. Actually, British people drink much tea every day. They don`t have much food at this time. They mostly give their preferences to a few sandwiches. Tea with a little amount of milk is also possible.
Teacher:Well. Students, let`s summarize this text, point out the main information of it.Give your ideas!
Students:I think that this text is devoted to the main dishes of four countries/Yes,it describes the dishes from England,Scotland,Ireland and Wales.

Teacher:Let`s pay attention to the highlighted words:I would like you to group all these words according to their peculiar features.You have 3 minutes to complete the task.
Well,students,are you ready?How did you group these phrases?What features did you distinguish? Tell me,please,what words do you have in the first/second/… group?
Students:The1st group has the following words…The 2d group has…..
Teacher:Okay,then why these phrases are in the 1st group?Pay attention to the nouns?Can we count them? What about other phrases?
Students:The phrases from the first group can be counted that`s why, they are grouped together.

Teacher:That is exactly true!Well done!So we can make conclusion that there are countable uncountable nouns,pay attention to the presentation.Countable nouns are like sandwich,hot-dog,carrot….Uncountable are bread,butter,milk,tea…Okay,now let`s practice our new grammar a little bit:You shall make up a dialogue using the phrases from the presentation,the first student asks the other,then the 2d student turns to the other one and asks a question which sees in the presentation.Be very careful while translating the phrases.If you are difficult to translate it,I will help you.Look at the presentation!
1)Много ли молока осталось в холодильнике?-В холодильнике осталось немного молока. How much milk is there left in the fridge?There is a little milk in the fridge.
2)Дома много картошки?-Да,дома много картошки. Are there many potatoes at home?-Yes, there are many potatoes.
3)Сколько времени уходит у тебя на дорогу?-У меня уходит много времени на дорогу. How much time does your way take? It takes me much time.
4)Много ли апельсинов в магазине?-В магазине мало апельсинов. Are there many oranges in the shop?There are few oranges in the shop.
5)Мэри пьет много чая?Нет,она пьет немного чая каждый день. Does Marry drink much tea?No,she drinks a little tea every day.
6)Сколько сахара нам нужно сегодня?-Нам нужно немного сахара. How much sugar do we need today?We need a little sugar.
7)В Великобритании много традиционных блюд?-Да,в Великобритании много разных блюд. Are there many traditional dishes in Britain?Yes, there are many traditional dishes in Britain.
8) У вас много сока?-Да, у нас много сока дома.Do you have much juice?Yes, we have much juice at home.
9) У нас есть немного моркови? –У нас мало маркови, нужно купить немного. Do we have a few carrots? We have few carrots, we need to buy it.
10) Сколько времени вы тратите на занятия спортом?- Мы тратим около 2 часов каждый день. –How much time do you spend on going in for sports?-We spend about 2 hours every day.
11) Сколько нам нужно конфет? –Нам нужно немного конфет. –How many sweets do we need? We need a few sweets.
12) У вас есть немного сливочного масла? –Да, у нас есть немного масла. Do you have a little butter?- Yes, we have a little butter.
Реализация воспитательной задачи урока (2 мин)
Teacher:Thank you very much,students!You`ve done the great job!Turn to the text again and find the geographical information which is connected with the traditional british food.
Students: Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, followed closely by fish and chips come from England….
Teacher:Yes,you`re right,what other dishes do you know and where do they come from?
Students:Pizza is from Italy….Borsch….
Teacher:Very good!Thank you very much!Let`s place our dishes on the right place on the map

Teacher:Okay,students,that was perfect!Thank you for your answers!Well,students,I have some additional information on traditional dishes which are eaten in Great Britain, here it is!I would like you to make your own miniproject based on this new information.You should introduce this project to the other group which will evaluate your answers.What shall you do:you should choose the main information from this text(not more 3 sentences) and write out them on the colourful sheets of paper,then some new words which you`ve met while reading and to show the main ingredients of the dish you have in this article,you may even to draw it!Let`s start!Raise your hand if you`re ready!
Teacher:Well.the group№…is ready,you`re welcome to introduce your project.We are all ears!

Teacher:Thank you,you worked very hard today and I think that you`ve learnt a lot:Students,what did you learn today?
Students:We learnt different kinds of British dishes. We learnt new grammar and we can say many tomatoes,but much bread.We also learnt how to cook some of the dishes,because we know all the ingredients.
